LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rocco J. DiVeronica upon the occasion of
his retirement as the Supervisor of the Town of Lenox, New York, after
more than 25 years of distinguished service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Rocco J. DiVeronica upon the occasion of his retirement as the Supervi-
sor of the Town of Lenox, New York, after more than 25 years of distin-
guished service; his long service will be celebrated on Saturday, Janu-
ary 25, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Rocco J. (Rocky) DiVeronica began his illustrious tenure as
Town of Lenox Supervisor in 1988; he held this esteemed post for 13
terms; and
WHEREAS, Deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of the
members of his community, Rocco J. DiVeronica has assumed the mantle of
leadership in several other capacities; and
WHEREAS, He was Chairman of the Madison County Board of Supervisors
from 2000 to 2008, where he served on several committees, including
Administration/Oversight, Planning, Economic Development, and Long Range
Planning; he served on the Board of Directors of the New York State
Association of Counties from 1999 to 2005, and then as its President
from 2005 to 2007; he has served also on the New York State Canal
Recreationway Commission since 1999; and
WHEREAS, Rocco J. DiVeronica's extraordinary dedication to civic
engagement has earned him numerous accolades; he received the Regional &
National J.C.'s Distinguished Services Award, the Junior Chamber of
Commerce Outstanding J. C. of the Year Award, and the American Public
Works Association Award; and
WHEREAS, Rocco J. DiVeronica has given generously of his time and
energies to many community organizations; he was founder of Canastota
Pee Wee Wrestling, coached Pop Warner and Little League for 18 years,
and served the Canastota Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Rocco J. DiVeronica served the Town of
Lenox, New York, with intelligence and caring dedication, continuously
striving to effectively fulfill the duties of his position; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
he worked, Rocco J. DiVeronica will be remembered for his honesty,
integrity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of more than 45 years,
Dorothy, their three children, Lori, Barbara, and Steve, and several
grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rocco J. DiVeronica upon the occasion of his retirement as the
Supervisor of the Town of Lenox, New York, after more than 25 years of
distinguished service, and to wish him continued success in all of his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rocco J. DiVeronica.
