LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Emergency First Responders in the Town
of Ontario upon the occasion of their being named 2013 Civic Group of
the Year by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and organ-
izations that provide exemplary service, whether through participation
in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement in their
profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the bravery and caring work of those citizens who voluntarily
risk themselves to preserve the safety and welfare of their neighbors
and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Emergency First Responders in the Town of Ontario upon the occasion of
their being named 2013 Civic Group of the Year by the Ontario Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday,
September 19, 2013, at The Brookwoods Golf Club, Ontario, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Civic Group of the Year award recognizes organizations in
the Ontario community that, with no thought of reward or recognition,
consistently and effectively aid their neighbors and fellow residents;
and
WHEREAS, The vital, life-giving services regularly performed by Emer-
gency First Responders in the Town of Ontario are truly in the very best
interests of the people of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The members of the organizations that comprise Emergency
First Responders in the Town of Ontario, Wayne County, New York, collec-
tively demonstrate an impressive dedication and extraordinary spirit of
self-sacrifice that is inspiring in scope; and
WHEREAS, Rich in history, and with a legacy of profound commitment,
these heroic organizations consist of: Ontario Volunteer Emergency
Squad, Ontario Volunteer Fire Company, Union Hill Volunteer Fire Compa-
ny, Union Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, North East Quadrant Advanced
Life Support-Medic 10, Advanced Life Support of Wayne County, and Mercy
Flight Central Air Ambulance Service; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; and
WHEREAS, Indeed, Emergency First Responders in the Town of Ontario
would be unable to perform their invaluable roles without the support,
understanding, and compassionate sacrifice of their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that we should give
special recognition to those who work so assiduously for the betterment
of their communities, and acknowledge publicly the heroic good works
performed by first responders in this great Empire State; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Emergency First Responders in the Town of Ontario, upon the occa-
sion of their being named 2013 Civic Group of the Year by the Ontario
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned emergency first responder organizations.
