LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dan Caracciolo upon the occasion of his
designation as 2013 Person of the Year by the LYNBROOK/EAST ROCKAWAY
HERALD on December 26, 2013
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dan Caracciolo has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dan Caracciolo
upon the occasion of his designation as 2013 Person of the Year by the
LYNBROOK/EAST ROCKAWAY HERALD on December 26, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Dan Caracciolo's strong commitment to his community led him
to mobilize his neighbors into action after Hurricane Sandy devastated
much of the East Rockaway area of Nassau County in October 2012; and
WHEREAS, Dan Caracciolo grew up in East Rockaway; one of four sons of
Larry and Barbara Caracciolo, he graduated from East Rockaway High
School in 1998, and earned a degree in communications from Marist
College in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 2002; now a resident of the Bay
Park area of East Rockaway, he is a business relationship manager at
HSBC bank; and
WHEREAS, An enthusiastic and active volunteer, Dan Caracciolo's genu-
ine love for and passion to help others was abundantly evident before
the Hurricane Sandy crisis; he regularly attended school board, civic
and community meetings; and
WHEREAS, His dedication propelled him to co-found the11518 Inc., a
nonprofit that serves as a resource for residents looking for storm-re-
lated information on such issues as Federal Emergency Management Agency
policy, Small Business Administration loans, and hazard-mitigation meas-
ures, and proactively seeks to get the word out to people who are most
in need of the information; and
WHEREAS, 10 months after Hurricane Sandy, Dan Caracciolo led organiz-
ers of the11518 in a rally in East Rockaway to draw attention to the
continuing struggle of residents to recover from the storm; many of whom
were not back in their homes, and didn't know when they would be; and
WHEREAS, Dan Caracciolo's goal is to accomplish "little wins" for East
Rockaway residents, and to help them remember what makes their community
a good place to live; and
WHEREAS, Dan Caracciolo has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, He is an officer in the East Rockaway Education Foundation,
which helps raise money for East Rockaway schools; however, this
extraordinary man can be found assisting others, giving wise counsel,
and lending his energies to address issues and needs throughout the
greater Bay Park-East Rockaway community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dan Caracciolo has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Kristina, and their
daughters, Rikki and Felicity, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dan Caracciolo has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dan Caracciolo upon the occasion of his designation as 2013 Person
of the Year by the LYNBROOK/EAST ROCKAWAY HERALD on December 26, 2013;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan Caracciolo.
