LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Geneva Foreign and Sports upon the occa-
sion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Business of the Year
Award by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
small businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the
economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Geneva Foreign and Sports upon the occasion of its designation as recip-
ient of the 2014 Business of the Year Award by the Geneva Area Chamber
of Commerce; this momentous occasion will be celebrated at the Chamber's
Annual Dinner on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Club 86, Geneva, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Dan Fitzgerald, with a passion for cars, founded Geneva
Foreign and Sports 41 years ago; dedicated to the philosophy of good
work at a fair price, this local business has maintained an excellent
reputation for more than four decades; and
WHEREAS, What began as a two bay shop staffed by Dan Fitzgerald and
one employee, has grown into an eight bay mechanical repair shop, ten
bay collision repair facility with two state-of-the-art paint booths,
and over 20 employees; as the business grew it moved from Hamilton
Street to Lyons Road, remaining in the Town of Geneva; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, a laser measuring repair machine and lift were
purchased to give Geneva Foreign and Sports the ability to repair a
vehicle back to factory specifications; two downdraft paint booths were
also installed, making it possible to closely replicate factory paint;
and
WHEREAS, In an effort to protect the environment, Geneva Foreign and
Sports uses water based paint products, reducing the toxic ingredients
used during the repair process; and
WHEREAS, Geneva Foreign and Sports is dedicated to the community it
serves and supports the Geneva Scholarship Association in providing
scholarships to local students; and
WHEREAS, In addition, each year the team at Geneva Foreign and Sports
write numerous articles that are published by national trade organiza-
tions, bringing positive attention not only to the business, but the
Geneva community as well; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges Geneva Foreign and Sports' success, recognizes its contributions
to the local and State economies, and extends its highest commendation
to the corporation and its employees, fully confident that, in its
future, it will enjoy the same success which has so characterized its
past; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Geneva Foreign and Sports upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 Business of the Year Award by the Geneva Area
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan Fitzgerald, Geneva Foreign and Sports.
