LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Shirley Kuchay for her dedicated service
as Membership Secretary of the Troy German Hall Association, and recog-
nizing her valuable contributions to the German American community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions and individuals who foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full-accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Shirley Kuchay for her dedicated service as Membership Secretary of the
Troy German Hall Association, and recognizing her valuable contributions
to the German American community; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion was celebrated during German American
Day on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Germania Hall, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since June of 1954, Germania Hall has been a beacon of
cultural pride in Troy, New York, by sharing the German traditions
through events such as Bavarian Nights, Oktoberfest, and their dancing
groups; and
WHEREAS, Now celebrating its 123rd year, the Troy German Hall Associ-
ation is an organization consisting of individual ethnic societies, each
one having its roots in Old Germany, carried to this country by and with
its individual members and ancestors; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Shirley Kuchay serves as the Membership Secretary
for the Troy German Hall Association, and has been a member of the
Germania Hall for nearly 20 years; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Shirley Kuchay for her dedicated service as Membership Secretary
of the Troy German Hall Association, and recognizing her valuable
contributions to the German American community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shirley Kuchay.
