LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating The Port Washington TJA Tri Team
upon the occasion of capturing First Place in the Division V Champion-
ship at Ironman Wisconsin

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the individuals of this State, instilling in them the value of
teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire
for success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and these outstanding athletes have clearly made a
contribution to the spirit of excellence; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to to congratulate and
pay tribute to The Port Washington TJA Tri Team for achieving First
Place in the Division V Championship at Ironman Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, The Port Washington TJA Tri Team brought home the gold from
Madison, Wisconsin and raised a significant amount for Camp Sunrise on
Long Island to benefit children with cancer; and
WHEREAS, The team is made up of seven Port Washington residents
including, Danny Weiss, Phil Rybecky, Kenny Abel, Mike Lewis, Kenny
Faltischek, Joe Sottile and Will Thompson, who competed in the Ironman
event, the toughest challenge any of them had ever faced; and
WHEREAS, The Ironmen selected Camp Sunrise on Long Island for its
vital mission of providing children with cancer and their siblings with
a fun summer experience, where they can just be kids away from the
stress of their treatments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which The Port Washington TJA Tri Team has
displayed throughout their experience; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate The Port Washington TJA Tri Team on their outstanding win
of First Place in the Division V Championship at Ironman Wisconsin; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Port Washington TJA Tri Team.
