LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lewis H. Lain upon the occasion of his
retirement after 24 years of distinguished service to the Town of Mini-
sink
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lewis H. Lain upon the occasion of his retirement after 24 years of
distinguished service to the Town of Minisink; a celebration was held in
his honor on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Minisink Town Hall; and
WHEREAS, Lewis H. Lain is a lifelong resident of the Town of Minisink;
it has been home to his family since the days of the American Revo-
lution; and
WHEREAS, The son of Lester and Elsie Lain, Lewis H. Lain graduated
from Minisink Valley High School, and graduated from State University of
New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse; and
WHEREAS, For the past 24 years, Lewis H. Lain rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable public service to the Town of Minisink; and
WHEREAS, He began his illustrious public service career as Councilman,
a position he held from 1990 to 1993; in 1994 he was elected Town Super-
visor; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Town Supervisor, Lewis H. Lain served with
loyalty, honor and distinction; he stepped down from this post in 2013;
and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
he worked, Lewis Lain will be remembered for his honesty, integrity,
keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of human problems
in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his distinguished public service, Lewis H.
Lain also made important contributions to the quality of life in the
Town of Minisink as a business owner and volunteer; he was owner of
Lain's Auto Parts from 1997 to 2009, a former trustee of the Pine Island
Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves as Vice President of Minisink
Valley Kiwanis; and
WHEREAS, Lewis Lain is married to his wife Jean; they are the proud
parents of Eric, Ian, Sonia, Jimm, and son-in-law, Jared, and the loving
grandparents of Caleb; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lewis H. Lain upon the occasion of his retirement after 24 years
of distinguished service to the Town of Minisink, and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lewis H. Lain.
