LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation
Center upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Marion
T. Lamar Health and Recreation Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those illus-
trious organizations of the State of New York whose purposeful endeavors
serve to enhance the quality of life for the cherished senior citizens
in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in keeping with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Marion T. Lamar Health and Recreation
Award by the Colonie Senior Service Center at the Annual Founders'
Awards Dinner on Monday, October 21, 2013, in Colonie, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Colonie Senior Service Center is a nonprofit, community-
based senior service organization serving the needs of seniors and their
families in the Capital Region for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes local businesses and commu-
nity leaders who reflect the commitment, vision and leadership exempli-
fied by Marion T. Lamar and the Founders of the Colonie Senior Service
Center; and
WHEREAS, The Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center is a state-of-
the-art fitness facility and recreation center devoted to improving the
health and well-being of the youth of the community in Colonie, New
York; and
WHEREAS, In the summer of 2012, the Ciccotti Center recognized the
need to be more than just a youth resource and opened its doors to
senior citizens, allowing them to preserve and improve their physical
fitness and health while also enjoying a sense of community that is
truly unique to the Capital Region; and
WHEREAS, The Rudy A. Ciccotti Center, in conjunction with the CDPHP
Senior Fit program, now enables and encourages more than 1,000 senior
citizens to participate in regular exercise and recreation activities;
and
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, the Rudy A.
Ciccoti Center has demonstrated the value of promoting health to citi-
zens of all ages; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the Marion T. Lamar Health and Recre-
ation Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center.
