LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Justice Lee Gill upon the occasion of
his retirement after 42 years of distinguished service to the Town of
Orleans, New York

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Justice Lee Gill upon the occasion of his retirement after 42 years of
distinguished service to the Town of Orleans, New York; and
WHEREAS, Justice Lee Gill was the youngest town justice in the State
of New York when he was first elected to serve at the age of 26; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his 42 years of service as Orleans Town
Justice, Lee Gill heard more than 35,000 legal cases, handling such
matters as traffic tickets, criminal matters, small claims, and local
code violations; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Orleans Town Justice, Lee Gill served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, was governed by a keen sense of duty and
always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, Justice Lee Gill was known among his colleagues and in his
community to be fair and scrupulously conscientious, having the utmost
respect for the position he held; and
WHEREAS, Through his work addressing legal issues that make a signif-
icant impact on the quality of life within a community, Justice Lee Gill
contributed countless hours to the betterment of his community; and
WHEREAS, A singular asset to all of the citizens he has served in the
community of the State of New York, Justice Lee Gill's life and career
are a portrait of preeminence in public service, and present a role
model for all who aspire to a career in public service; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Justice Lee Gill upon the occasion of his retirement after 42
years of distinguished service to the Town of Orleans; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Justice Lee Gill.
