LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jack J. Boak upon the occasion of his
retirement after more than 40 years in the education field

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jack
J. Boak upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 40 years of
dedicated service in education; and
WHEREAS, Jack J. Boak began his career in education at the Holland
Patent Central School District in Oneida County as a high school English
teacher; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, Jack J. Boak entered the school administration phase
of his career when he began working for Jefferson-Lewis BOCES as assist-
ant superintendent for programs and clerk of the board; and
WHEREAS, Jack J. Boak became deputy superintendent of Jefferson-Lewis
BOCES in 2001, and was selected to lead the organization as district
superintendent in 2003; and
WHEREAS, He served simultaneously for one year as interim superinten-
dent of St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES, as well as one year as superintendent
of Oswego County BOCES; and
WHEREAS, In his multiple leadership roles, Jack J. Boak not only
worked to improve learning opportunities for and make a difference in
the lives of students, he also served as a mentor to those who were just
beginning their careers in the educational field; and
WHEREAS, Jack J. Boak is also dedicated to civic engagement; he has
been an active member of the North Country community, serving on the
boards of the Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce, the
Greater Seaway Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Seaway Trail
Foundation and the Jefferson County Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Jack J. Boak provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jack J. Boak upon the occasion of his retirement after more than
four decades of dedicated service in the field of education, and for his
significant contributions to education in New York State; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jack J. Boak.
