LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kenneth D. Daly upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by St. Francis College at its Annual
Charter Award Dinner
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Daly has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kenneth D.
Daly upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by St.
Francis College at its Annual Charter Award Dinner, on Tuesday, April 1,
2014, at the Marriott Marquis; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Daly is the President of the New York business of
National Grid; the company serves four million customers and provides
electricity and natural gas to customers in Upstate New York, as well as
natural gas to customers in Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and on Long
Island; and
WHEREAS, In 1988, Kenneth D. Daly joined National Grid as a Management
Trainee in the Customer Relations Department; he was recently based in
London, serving for two years as Group Financial Controller, and has
held numerous positions in Finance, Human Resources and Customer
Relations throughout his 25 year career; and
WHEREAS, Graduating from St. Francis College with a Bachelor's degree
in English, Kenneth D. Daly remains actively involved with the college;
he provides internships, mentoring, scholarships, and numerous other
student programs; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Kenneth D. Daly is a member of the Board of
Trustees, and has been an adjunct professor at St. Francis College,
teaching human resources, business and finance courses for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Daly has earned both an MBA in Finance from St.
John's University, and an MS in Human Resource Management from New York
University; he achieved the distinguished Chartered Financial Analyst
(CFA) designation in 2002; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Kenneth D. Daly has been the Director of
the St. John's University Executive-in-Residence Program since 1992; he
is the past Chairman of the Kingsborough Community College Board of
Directors, a former member of Junior Achievement Board of Directors and
United Way Campaign Co-Chair; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he is a member of the David Rockefeller Fellows
Program, the Long Island Energeia Partnership, the British American
Business Council Board and Advanced Energy Research and Technology
Center (AERTC) Board; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Daly has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Kenneth D. Daly has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife, Laurie, and
their four beautiful children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kenneth D. Daly has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kenneth D. Daly upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by St. Francis College at its Annual Charter Award Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kenneth D. Daly.
