LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Technician John Gilday for his many
years of dedicated service to Verizon

WHEREAS, Individuals who distinguish themselves in their profession and
give of their time and energies and serve the best interests of their
communities are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently
extolled; and
WHEREAS, John Gilday has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Technician
John Gilday for his many years of dedicated service to Verizon; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Maspeth, New York, on August 25, 1960,
John Gilday graduated from Newtown High School in 1978; and
WHEREAS, On April 16, 1987, John Gilday started working for Verizon as
a Lineman in Queens, New York; and
WHEREAS, John Gilday moved to Douglaston, New York, in 1995, and the
following year, he married his wife, Randi; together they are the proud
parents of one daughter, Randi; and
WHEREAS, A native of Queens his entire life, John Gilday has worked
for Verizon for over 26 years and throughout that time, has been an
integral part in the build out of Verizon FiOS network in Queens; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Gilday has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Technician John Gilday for his many years of dedicated service to
Verizon; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Gilday.
