LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Steven Krokoff upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Ned Pattison Award by the Capital Region
Chapter of The New York Civil Liberties Union

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Steven Krokoff has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Steven Krokoff upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Ned Pattison Award by the Capital Region Chapter of The New York Civil
Liberties Union which was celebrated at its Annual Awards Ceremony on
Thursday, November 7, 2013, at the University Club in Albany, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Steven Krokoff was chosen as recipient of this auspicious
award for his offices' work on developing new policies and procedures
when interacting with transgender individuals in criminal justice
matters; and
WHEREAS, Chief Steven Krokoff has been a member of the Albany Police
Department for two decades; prior to serving as Chief, he served many
other positions including: Commander of the Office of Professional Stan-
dards, Head of Detectives, and Deputy Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, Steven Krokoff was appointed Albany Police Chief in 2010 and
is also an adjunct professor at State University of New York Delhi where
he teaches courses in the treatment of offenders and drug use and abuse;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to his professional duties, Steven Krokoff serves
on the advisory boards of Habitat for Humanity and the LaSalle school;
and
WHEREAS, Steven Krokoff has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers, such as Steven Krokoff for his valued contrib-
utions to the community; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Lynn, and their two
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore; be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Steven Krokoff upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Ned Pattison Award by the Capital Region Chapter of The New York
Civil Liberties Union; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steven Krokoff.
