LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Catholic
Young Adult Community on March 2, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Young Adult Community is a solid cornerstone of the
community, and stands ready to continue its important mission of build-
ing strong relationships for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 25th Anniversary of Catholic Young Adult Community; this
momentous occasion will be celebrated with a Mass at St. Bernards Parish
in Mill Basin, Brooklyn, on Sunday, March 2, 2014, followed by a dinner
dance at the El Caribe Country Club Caterers; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Young Adult Community (C.Y.A.C.) consists of three
singles clubs from Our Lady of Grace, St. Bernards and St. Thomas Aqui-
nas parishes; with the strong leadership, dedication and fellowship of
its Presidents, Mary Ann De Luca, Michael Somma, Jr. and Joanne Sechi-
ano, as well as its 17 committee members, C.Y.A.C. has grown to serve
300 members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the year, Catholic Young Adult Community holds
many religious, social and sports activities, some of which include:
dances, overnight and day trips, picnics, and retreats; in addition,
C.Y.A.C. members visit Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center in Coney Island, and sponsor numerous programs to give back to
the community, and support its parent churches; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
organizations such as Catholic Young Adult Community, which serve to
bring people together for the united purpose of actively pursuing posi-
tive relationships and improvements in their communities; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Catholic Young Adult Community on
March 2, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Catholic Young Adult Community.
