LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ellenville Regional Hospital upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of The Critical Access Hospital
Recognition Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
commend and recognize those esteemed institutions within the medical
community for their extraordinary and sustained contributions to the
improvement of life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organ-
izations of distinction whose singular purpose is the care and welfare
of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ellenville Regional Hospital upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of The Critical Access Hospital Recognition Award by The
National Rural Health Resource Center; and
WHEREAS, The Critical Access Hospital Recognition Award was estab-
lished by The National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center) and the
Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP) to recognize the excellent
work in critical access hospitals (CAH) throughout the country; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the recognition promotes excellence and inno-
vation, and honors the achievements and results of critical access
hospitals while publicizing successful strategies; and
WHEREAS, One of only five hospitals in the country to receive this
special recognition, Ellenville Regional Hospital demonstrates both
excellence and innovation in the area of community engagement initi-
atives, some of which include, Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy
Services Collaborative, and the EpicCare Link Connection; and
WHEREAS, In addition, an Affordable Senior Housing initiative was
established, making Ellenville Regional Hospital the first New York
hospital to partner with a developer to build affordable senior housing
on their campus; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of President and CEO Steven L.
Kelley, Ellenville Regional Hospital continues to be committed to engag-
ing and communicating with patients, partners, and the community they
serve; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ellenville Regional Hospital upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of The Critical Access Hospital Recognition Award; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steven L. Kelley, President and CEO, Ellenville Regional
Hospital.
