LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tara Berescik upon the occasion of her
designation as 2014 Teacher of the Year by The Association for Career
and Technical Education

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Tara
Berescik upon the occasion of her designation as 2014 Teacher of the
Year by The Association for Career and Technical Education; and
WHEREAS, The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) is
the Nation's largest not-for-profit education association dedicated to
the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for success-
ful careers; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1926, and with more than 25,000 members, ACTE
provides advocacy, public awareness and access to information on career
and technical education, professional development and tools that enable
members to be successful and effective leaders; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
individuals such as Tara Berescik, who dedicate their lives as educa-
tors, nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Grahamsville, New York, Tara Berescik is an
agricultural educator with Tri-Valley Central School District; and
WHEREAS, As the Regional winner of the ACTE Teacher of the Year Award,
Tara Berescik was one of five finalists competing for the national title
of 2014 Teacher of the Year, which recognizes educators who have made
significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs
which are serving to improve and promote career and technical education;
and
WHEREAS, Tara Berescik was announced as the National winner during the
ACTE Awards Banquet on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in Las Vegas, Neva-
da; and
WHEREAS, An agricultural educator and Future Farmers of America (FFA)
advisor at Tri-Valley School District for the past 13 years, Tara Beres-
cik remains a source of inspiration and support for her students; she is
known for her ability to connect with her students, and her aptitude for
maximizing potential in others; and
WHEREAS, In addition to advising her award-winning FFA team, Tara
Berescik teaches eight classes a day on a variety of topics in which she
integrates hands-on experience that provide her students with truly
remarkable experiences; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career thus far, Tara Berescik has brought an
uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every young person she educates; and
WHEREAS, Teachers like Tara Berescik provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tara Berescik upon the occasion of her designation as 2014 Teacher
of the Year by The Association for Career and Technical Education; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tara Berescik.
