LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Scarzafava upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr. Distin-
guished Citizen Award by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are assets beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, John Scarzafava has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John Scarzafa-
va upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Eugene
A. Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the Otsego County Cham-
ber of Commerce, to be celebrated at the 28th Annual NBT Distinguished
Dinner and Celebration of Business on Friday, March 28, 2014, at SUNY
Oneonta's Hunt Union Ballroom, Oneonta, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award,
established in 2002, is presented to a citizen of Otsego County who has
made a long-term impact on the region, and who gives back to the commu-
nity through his business or civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, John Scarzafava, attorney at law with Scarzafava & Basdekis
Law Firm of Oneonta, is a community leader who contributes to many local
service activities, some of which include the United Way Campaign, The
Pit Run, Boys and Girls Club, and Otsego County Family Services; he also
served on the A.O. Fox Memorial Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, John Scarzafava has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Scarzafava has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Scarzafava upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2014 Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the
Otsego Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Scarzafava.
