LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Albany Academy for Girls upon the
occasion of celebrating its 200th Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of commitment and high achievement whose purpose
and endeavor have been dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the
education of the children of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Albany Academy for Girls upon the occasion of its 200th Anniversary to
be observed at its Founder's Day Celebration on Monday, February 24,
2014; and
WHEREAS, The Albany Academy for Girls will commemorate its Bicentenni-
al and usher in the third century of excellence in education; it will be
a time to boast its achievements, honor the first 200 years of academic,
artistic and athletic distinctions, and express gratitude to those who
were instrumental in its sterling success; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1814, the Albany Academy for Girls is full of
illustrious history and committed to developing the potential of the
whole individual by building a community which fosters scholarship,
leadership, character, service, and creativity; and
WHEREAS, Albany Academy for Girls provides a welcoming environment of
mutual respect, understanding, inclusion, and a sense of belonging to
its young women who attend the school; and
WHEREAS, With its unique sense of community, the Albany Academy for
Girls students have the opportunity to learn from one another and to
invest in their school work; and
WHEREAS, Over the past two centuries, the students and faculty have
held themselves to high expectations, constantly striving to reach their
full potential; and
WHEREAS, With the continued atmosphere of mutual self-respect and
academic rigor, Albany Academy for Girls produces young women who are
ready and able to move forward in their education, careers, and life;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to extend its highest commen-
dation to all the individuals who have been involved with Albany Academy
for Girls, past and present, noting the importance of their work and
their enduring commitment to the youth of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within the 21st Century, the Albany Academy for Girls stands
prepared to reach out, in earnest and enthusiastic quest of its mission,
to promote the maximum growth of every student, establishing standards
and building skills which will carry its students and the citizens of
its community into the future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Albany Academy for Girls upon the occasion of celebrating its
200th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Albany Academy for Girls.
