LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Cody Franskevicz upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the Class C Scholar Athlete of the
Year Award by the New York State High School Football Coaches Associ-
ation

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplish-
ments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Cody
Franskevicz upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Class C Scholar Athlete of the Year Award by the New York State High
School Football Coaches Association (NYSHSFCA), one of the highest
honors a student athlete can receive, celebrated at an awards dinner on
Friday, February 7, 2014, at Turning Stone Casino's Shenandoah Clubhouse
in Verona, New York; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, senior Cody Franskevicz has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, The son of Dave and Bev Franskevicz, Cody Franskevicz made
significant contributions to his team as wide receiver, defensive end,
and punter during the 2013 season; he is captain of the Varsity football
team and was selected as a County Football All-Star and Section IX
Honorable Mention; and
WHEREAS, Scholastically, Cody Franskevicz holds a 94.8 grade point
average and ranks third in his class at Sullivan West High School; he is
a member of the National Honor Society, and plans to attend Cincinnati
University, majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Mobile
Development; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, he has brought
honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable Student Athlete may stand with pride in his
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of
his accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences in
his future; and
WHEREAS, Cody Franskevicz's hard work and determination represents the
potential inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; this Legis-
lative Body is pleased to honor this young man, recognizing his achieve-
ments and the promise of his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cody Franskevicz upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Class C Scholar Athlete of the Year Award by the New
York State High School Football Coaches Association, and to wish him
well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cody Franskevicz.
