LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kealy Salomon upon the occasion of her
retirement after 31 distinguished years of public service to Dutchess
County
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens who demonstrate great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communi-
ties and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kealy Salomon upon the occasion of her retirement after 31 distinguished
years of public service to Dutchess County; and
WHEREAS, Kealy Salomon started her illustrious career with Dutchess
County Government in 1982, beginning as planner following her graduation
from Cornell University with a Master's degree in Regional Planning; and
WHEREAS, She worked her way up through the Planning Department, serv-
ing as Senior Planner and Transportation Program Administrator and then
as Assistant Commissioner before being appointed Commissioner of Plan-
ning and Development in 2010 by former County Executive William R.
Steinhaus; and
WHEREAS, Kealy Salomon leaves a legacy of accomplishment in her work
to preserve the unique character of cities, towns, and villages in
Dutchess County by preserving more than 600 acres of open space and
farmland, constructing more than 180 affordable housing units, securing
hybrid vehicles for the LOOP bus system, releasing new Greenway Guides,
publishing Moving Dutchess, creating the Health Communities Trail
Mapping Series, and adopting a solid waste management plan; and
WHEREAS, During her retirement, Kealy Salomon plans to spend time in
Lake George, travel more extensively, and remain active volunteering in
her community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in the community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of standards in their profes-
sion, have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of
this great State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kealy Salomon upon the occasion of her retirement after 31 distin-
guished years of public service to Dutchess County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kealy Salomon.
