LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mauri E. Maroney upon the occasion of
her retirement after 25 years of distinguished service to the United
States Postal Service

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mauri E. Maro-
ney upon the occasion of her retirement after 25 years of distinguished
service to the United States Postal Service; she officially retired on
January 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Mauri E. Maroney is a Canton native who graduated from St.
Lawrence University and worked for the New York State Department of
Transportation for five years; and
WHEREAS, She began her illustrious postal career in 1987, as a rural
carrier in Russell, New York, and later served in various other post
offices; and
WHEREAS, Mauri E. Maroney served as Postmaster of the Star Lake Post
Office, Acting Supervisor in the Massena Post Office, and held the posi-
tions of Supervisor of Customer Service and Officer-in-Charge, before
being selected as Canton Postmaster in May of 2002; and
WHEREAS, Mauri E. Maroney has seen many changes in the postal service
in her 25 years of service; during her tenure, she saw the renovation of
the Canton Post Office, making it accessible for the handicapped; and
WHEREAS, Mauri E. Maroney comes from a family of dedicated U.S. Postal
Service employees including her father, R. Michael Maroney, who was
Canton Postmaster from 1982 to 1987, her brother, Howard Maroney, who
retired in 2011 as Norwood Postmaster, and her sister, Valli M.
Ganditzki, who is a rural mail carrier in Spencerport, New York; and
WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, Mauri E. Maroney rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the United States Postal Service,
serving with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Mauri E. Maroney was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems, earn-
ing the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mauri E. Maroney upon the occasion of her retirement after 25
years of service to the United States Postal Service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution suitably engrossed, be trans-
mitted to Mauri E. Maroney.
