LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mike D'Attilio upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Ninth Annual Mary G. Breslin Volunteer
Service Award
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledges their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity
among us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mike
D'Attilio upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Ninth
Annual Mary G. Breslin Volunteer Service Award, to be celebrated on
Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the George E. Hanner Chapel Cultural Center,
in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Mike D'Attilio is an ever present and considerate sounding
board in the community whose knack for listening intently and talent for
positive problem solving has touched many lives; and
WHEREAS, Mary Breslin, the award's namesake, exuded a devotion and
energy for volunteerism, and in her own kind and soothing manner, had
taught others that service is the epitome of success; and
WHEREAS, Like Mrs. Breslin, Mike D'Attilio lives his life to the very
fullest, as if each person he talks to is the most important, and as if
the success of the cause he is devoting his efforts to at any particular
time depends on his determination, commitment and involvement; and
WHEREAS, In 2014, Mike D'Attilio celebrates his 40th Anniversary on
staff at the College of Saint Rose, and from his very first day in 1974
as the first Lay Dean of Students to today as the College's Executive
Director of Government and Community Relations, he uses his experience
to teach students in his graduate courses that collaboration, cooper-
ation and volunteering matters and can change lives; and
WHEREAS, Mike D'Attilio is also active in board service, religious
education and event coordination and has received numerous professional
and service awards; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of a community and have shown a long
and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recog-
nition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mike D'Attilio upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Ninth Annual Mary G. Breslin Volunteer Service Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mike D'Attilio.
