LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Crea Mackenzie Kirkland upon the occa-
sion of her work being selected for display at the 24th Annual Legisla-
tive Student Art Exhibition
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Crea Mackenzie Kirkland upon the occasion of her work being selected for
display at the 24th Annual Legislative Student Art Exhibition in the
Legislative Office Building, Albany, New York, on Thursday, March 6,
2014; and
WHEREAS, Crea Mackenzie Kirkland was selected for this high honor for
her exceptional watercolor painting; and
WHEREAS, The arts provide the skills and knowledge students need to
develop the creativity and determination necessary for success in the
global information age; extraordinary results occur for schools and
communities which deliver high quality learning opportunities in,
through, and about the arts for children; and
WHEREAS, Arts education enables students to develop critical thinking
and problem solving skills, imagination and creativity, discipline and
express feelings and ideas, which support academic success across the
curriculum as well as personal growth outside the classroom; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her contributions to art, Crea Mackenzie Kirk-
land excels in the classroom with a 99 grade point average, and is a
member of the Mary Lourdes Academy of Dance Competition Team; and
WHEREAS, Crea Mackenzie Kirkland exemplifies the best potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought
enduring honor to her family and her community through her many academic
and artistic achievements; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Crea
Mackenzie Kirkland now stands honorably, with just pride in her accom-
plishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Crea Mackenzie Kirkland upon the occasion of her work being
selected for display at the 24th Annual Legislative Student Art Exhibi-
tion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Crea Mackenzie Kirkland.
