LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Melissa Powell for her heroic efforts
as a member of Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, upon the occasion of being honored
by the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040 of the American Legion at its
Community Awards Ceremony
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who give
outstanding service to the people of the Empire State and whose extraor-
dinary achievements save the lives of their fellow citizens should be
recognized because their efforts so profoundly strengthen our shared
commitment to family and community life; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Melissa Powell for her heroic efforts as a member of Delmar-Bethlehem
EMS upon the occasion of being honored by the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard
Post 1040 of the American Legion; she will be celebrated by the Post at
its Community Awards Ceremony on Monday, March 3, 2014, in Delmar, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Powell, a Telecommunicator (T/C) within Town of Beth-
lehem Communications, has been designated as recipient of the Fire
Services Lifesaving Award for the important role she played in the
rescue of an elderly resident of Slingerlands, New York, who was trapped
in a fire on September 12, 2013; and
WHEREAS, On many occasions, T/C Melissa Powell has acted with calm and
steady efficiency in dealing with the risk and drama of emergency situ-
ations; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Powell is known within her community for excellence
and professionalism, always going the extra mile in providing crucial
support to the first responders and residents she serves; her hard work
embodies the dedication, compassion, and respect displayed by emergency
dispatchers across this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties, T/C Melissa Powell
has demonstrated her character and her concern for the welfare of
others; she is a tremendous asset to Delmar-Bethlehem EMS and the Town
of Bethlehem, and a distinguished citizen of the State and Nation; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Melissa Powell for her heroic efforts as a member of Delmar-
Bethlehem EMS, upon the occasion of being honored by the Nathaniel Adams
Blanchard Post 1040 of the American Legion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Melissa Powell.
