LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Firefighter Andy Morris for his heroic
efforts as a member of the Delmar Fire Company upon the occasion of
being honored by the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040 of the American
Legion at its Community Awards Ceremony

WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our valiant firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery
every day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the heroic actions of those fire departments and firefighters that take
prompt and appropriate action in fire emergency situations; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Firefighter Andy Morris for his heroic efforts as a member of the Delmar
Fire Company upon the occasion of being honored by the Nathaniel Adams
Blanchard Post 1040 of the American Legion; he will be celebrated at the
Post's Community Awards Ceremony on Monday, March 3, 2014, in Delmar,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Andy Morris has been designated as recipient of
the Fire Services Lifesaving Award for his role in rescuing an elderly
resident of Slingerlands, New York, who was trapped in a fire on Septem-
ber 12, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Many firefighters have lost their lives to save the lives of
others; each and every day, they face danger and peril without fear and
perform their job with the utmost concern and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters exemplify the power of human compassion and the
strength of the American spirit through actions of the most heroic
magnitude; Andy Morris is one such firefighter; his dedication merits
the tribute and recognition of all citizens of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Through his selfless actions, Firefighter Andy Morris demon-
strated his character and his concern for the welfare of others, person-
ifying, by virtue of his behavior, the collective concern of ordinary
people across the community of New York State who voluntarily respond
without the thought of danger or reward when others are in need of help;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Firefighter Andy Morris upon the occasion of being honored by
the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040 of the American Legion; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Firefighter Andy Morris.
