LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION, Congratulating six Warwick Valley High School
students upon the occasion of being named Commended Students in the 2014
National Merit Scholarship Program

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late six Warwick Valley High School students upon the occasion of being
named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program;
and
WHEREAS, To achieve this auspicious honor, the students placed among
the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million juniors who took the
2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test; and
WHEREAS, Each Commended Student, all of whom demonstrated outstanding
potential for academic success, received a letter of commendation in
recognition of exceptional academic promise; and
WHEREAS, Warwick Valley High School's Commended Students are: Andrew
S. Brown, Thomas J. Hamling, Kathleen A. McKenna, Emily D. Mears, Evan
J. Rzeznik, and Hannah G. Tucker; and
WHEREAS, In achieving high academic honor, the six students may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence they have brought to their families, friends, community and
schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate six Warwick Valley High School students upon the occasion
of being named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship
Program, and best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-be-
ing; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned students.
