LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Michael "Jingles" Rubino,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael "Jingles" Rubino of Binghamton, New York, died on
February 20, 2014, at the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, Jingles Rubino distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, If you have ever attended a Binghamton sporting event, espe-
cially a Binghamton Mets game, you were sure to see Dancing Jingles; he
was an umpire for over 30 years for the Binghamton Umpire Association,
and would often dance during the 7th inning stretch; and
WHEREAS, When Chenango Forks and Chenango Valley played each other,
Jingles would never miss a game; he will be missed by many including the
children of the community who loved to see him dance; and
WHEREAS, Jingles Rubino's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Rubino; brother, Canio Rubi-
no; his parents, Salvitore and Jane Rubino, Jingles Rubino is survived
by his daughter, Debbie Rubino-Ruggieri and son, Michael Rubino; three
grandchildren, Michael III, Ashley and Katrina Rubino; companion and
best friend, Barbara McDermott; and special friends, Joe Yanuzzi, Geno
Regni, Carl Gaffney and Lillian Piano; as well as several nieces, neph-
ews, cousins and close friends and extended family from Dunmore, Penn-
sylvania; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Jingles Rubino leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Michael "Jingles" Rubino, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Michael "Jingles" Rubino.
