LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Darcy McDowell upon the occasion
of receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award
WHEREAS, Darcy McDowell is a member of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson
Troop 161; and
WHEREAS, Through her diligence and rigorous efforts, Darcy McDowell
has earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest and most prestigious
honor accorded to Cadette Girl Scouts; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting cultivates in our nation's young people the
values of sisterhood, the importance of working with others; Girl Scout
activities develop leadership, stimulate both mind and body, instill
pride, encourage community service, and strengthen a committment to
excellence; and
WHEREAS, To earn the Silver Award, Darcy McDowell completed a series
of requirements which included a skills building process; identification
of issues important to the Girl Scout; exploration of her community; an
action project which Darcy McDowell planned, developed, and executed;
and a reflection, and sharing of her Silver Award experience with the
Girl Scouting community; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award symbolizes a Cadette Girl Scout's accom-
plishments in Girl Scouting and community activities as she matures and
works to better her life and the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, Through earning the Silver Award, Darcy McDowell has amply
demonstrated her high character and commitment; it is a harbinger of her
future as a leader in her community, New York State and our nation; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
warmly congratulate Darcy McDowell, recognizing her achievement in earn-
ing the Girl Scout Silver Award, and wishing her much success in her
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Darcy McDowell.
