LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stephen C. Tarbell upon the occasion of
his induction into the Genesee Community College Alumni Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stephen C. Tarbell upon the occasion of his induction into the Genesee
Community College Alumni Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Silver Lake, Stephen Tarbell graduated from
Genesee Community College, Batavia, New York, in 1978 with an associate
of science degree in criminal justice; and
WHEREAS, He continued his studies in criminal justice, earning a bach-
elor's degree from Empire State College in 1987, and a master of arts
degree from the Nelson Rockefeller School of Criminal Justice, State
University of New York at Albany, in 1990; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Tarbell has dedicated his life to serving the public
good; as a criminal justice professional he has been employed in many
capacities, including working for the Wyoming County Sheriff's Depart-
ment for more than 20 years as a Scientific Evidence Technician, Deputy
Sheriff, Technical Sergeant, and Investigator, serving the State of New
York as a Police Instructor, coordinating the Wyoming County Youth
Court, serving as Wyoming County STOP-DWI Coordinator for five years,
and working for more than 12 years as a licensed private investigator;
he also has extensive training and experience in fire investigation; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Tarbell is also a committed public servant; currently
Supervisor of the Town of Castile, member of the Wyoming County Board of
Supervisors, and member of the Wyoming County Community Hospital Board
of Managers, this leader was a member of the Warsaw Central School Board
from 1987 to 1998, Village Board Trustee and Deputy Mayor of the Village
of Silver Springs from 1996 to 2004, and Town Councilman for the Town of
Castile from 2005 to 2011; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Tarbell has received numerous awards and honors for
his outstanding community service, including the Leadership Wyoming
Alumni Leaders Award, the United States Congressional Award for Service
to Youth, and the Perry Fire Department Fireman of the Year Service
Award; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stephen C. Tarbell upon the occasion of his induction into the
Genesee Community College Alumni Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephen C. Tarbell.
