LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending John F. Kennedy Jr. School upon the
occasion of hosting its 42nd Annual Spring Fair on May 20-21, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents, educators
and administrators to provide the highest quality education for students
has become the hallmark and tradition of the John F. Kennedy Jr. School;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend John F.
Kennedy Jr. School upon the occasion of hosting its 42nd Annual Spring
Fair on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, and Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in Elmhurst,
New York; this momentous occasion will be celebrated with food prepared
by its culinary arts department, interactive games, student-generated
arts and crafts projects, and musical entertainment; and
WHEREAS, The John F. Kennedy Jr. School is a special education public
school serving an international community of young adult students from
New York City; and
WHEREAS, With its main site located in Elmhurst, Queens, John F.
Kennedy Jr. School has offsite inclusion programs at Information and
Technology High School, Maspeth High School, and Queens College; and
WHEREAS, The John F. Kennedy Jr. School has been an integral part of
the history of its community, representing a dynamic, responsive and
positive force within the educational system of New York State; and
WHEREAS, The work-study classes at John F. Kennedy Jr. School provide
services to numerous organizations throughout the community some of
which include, Jamaica Hospital, Trump Pavilion for Nursing and Rehabil-
itation, Queens Community House, Hour Children Food Pantry, Queens
Center for Progress, Lifespire, and the Salvation Army; and
WHEREAS, The John F. Kennedy Jr. School is proudly aware of its
distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to parents,
students and the community, and planning with vision and purpose for the
ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in the years to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend John F. Kennedy Jr. School upon the occasion of hosting its 42nd
Annual Spring Fair on May 20-21, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John F. Kennedy Jr. School.
