LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Hura J. Minger IV upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2014 Military Youth of the Year
Award by the Fort Drum Boys and Girls Club of America Chapter

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Hura
J. Minger IV upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2014 Military Youth of the Year Award by the Fort Drum Boys and Girls
Club of America Chapter; and
WHEREAS, Hura J. Minger IV was chosen for this auspicious award based
on the caliber of his community service work, his involvement within the
Fort Drum Boys and Girls Club of America, and his personal charisma and
public speaking abilities; and
WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Club of America offers programs and
services to enhance the development of youth, and helps enable young
people to reach their full potential, while also serving more than
468,000 youth on military installations; and
WHEREAS, Since 1941, the Fort Drum Boys and Girls Club of America has
hosted an annual Youth of the Year Competition to recognize club members
for their academic success, strong moral character, public speaking
ability, and their service to the club and their community; and
WHEREAS, Hura J. Minger IV, the son of Staff Sergeant Hura J. Minger
III, is a senior at Indian River Central High School; he participates in
numerous school programs some of which include Jazzrock, Chorus, Bible
Club, and the school musical; and
WHEREAS, Since 2011, Hura J. Minger IV has been a member of the Fort
Drum Youth Center's Keystone Club, a chartered small-group leadership
and service club for young people who perform services on behalf of
their club and community, education and career exploration, free enter-
prise, unity, and leadership development; and
WHEREAS, On a daily basis, Hura J. Minger IV demonstrates strength,
determination, and an exceptional ability to remain resilient despite
the unique challenges and obstacles of military life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Hura J. Minger IV continued success throughout his school
years and beyond; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that when indi-
viduals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Hura J. Minger IV upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Military Youth of the Year Award by the Fort Drum Boys
and Girls Club of America Chapter; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hura J. Minger IV.
