LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Casey Porter upon the occasion of being
crowned the 2014-2015 New York State Dairy Princess
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
those young people who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The agricultural industry of the State of New York is highly
benefited by the active promotion of farming endeavors and agricultural
products; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Casey Porter
upon the occasion of being crowned the 2014-2015 New York State Dairy
Princess by the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council on Tuesday,
February 18, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Casey Porter was selected for this auspicious honor from
approximately two dozen contestants from counties across New York State;
out of all the pageant contestants, she was the only individual to
deliver her speech, which touched upon the importance of reducing the
carbon footprint and food production; and
WHEREAS, As State princess, Casey Porter will represent the American
Dairy Association and Dairy Council at events being held throughout New
York State to spread the message of the importance of agriculture; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Casey Porter will attend Cornell University
and major in agriculture; and
WHEREAS, The crowning of Casey Porter as New York State Dairy Princess
builds upon her past agriculture experiences; for more than seven
decades, her family has owned and operated Porterdale Farms in Adams
Center, New York, Jefferson County, an award-winning and integral part
of the farming community in the State, founded by Casey's great-grand-
parents, Glenn and Ruth Porter in 1938; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual which Casey Porter has demonstrated in achieving the title of 2014-
2015 New York State Dairy Princess; she has stood constant in dignity,
good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Casey Porter exemplifies the best potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring honor to her
family, local community and to the State of New York, and should be
recognized and saluted by all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Casey Porter upon the occasion of being crowned the 2014-2015 New
York State Dairy Princess; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Casey Porter.
