LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio upon
the occasion of their designation for special recognition by Hospice of
Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc.
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio have given not only of their
time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leader-
ship and consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Dr. John and
Marilyn D'Ambrosio upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., to be
celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the organization's 2014
Spring Gala, "Bees and Blossoms," at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties provides support and
care for persons in the final stages of incurable disease so that they
might live as fully and comfortably as possible; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio are being recognized by
Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for their many years of dedi-
cation, commitment, and service to its life-affirming mission; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn D'Ambrosio is very active within Hospice of Orange
and Sullivan Counties; she serves as a member of its Auxiliary Board,
participates in numerous program and fundraising activities, including
its Gala, Hoe Down, and Golf Committees, and has chaired both its Fash-
ion Show and Dine Out events; Dr. John D'Ambrosio formerly served as
chairman of its Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio are exemplars of community
and civic engagement who lend their time, talents, and considerable
energies to many other organizations and causes in their community as
well; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John D'Ambrosio, who has been president of the Orange
County Chamber of Commerce since 1982, is a business leader who is a
former chairman of the Board of the Chamber Alliance of New York State;
he currently serves as president of the Orange County Business Develop-
ment Corporation, and president of the Corporation for Chamber Services;
and his other community involvements include Orange County United Way,
Orange County Community College Foundation, and the Board of the
National Purple Heart Hall of Honor; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn D'Ambrosio serves on the boards of the American Heart
Association, the American Cancer Society, and the YMCA; within the YMCA
she has been an important part of supporting the organization's annual
fund through volunteering on its Anniversary Dance, Fashion Show, and
Dance committees; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio have
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio have
displayed throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio for their dedicated service to
Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. John and Marilyn D'Ambrosio.
