LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring William Marinello upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2014 Capital District YMCA Presi-
dent's Award on April 22, 2014
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
esteemed citizens of the State who have distinguished themselves in
their community; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, William Marinello has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor William Mari-
nello upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014
Capital District YMCA President's Award, to be celebrated at its Annual
President's Award Dinner on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Albany
Marriott; and
WHEREAS, An award winning Store Manager for Hannaford Supermarkets,
William Marinello, affectionately known as Bill, is truly dedicated to
the community he serves; and
WHEREAS, Bill Marinello is a lifelong resident of the Capital Region;
he graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1978, with an Asso-
ciate's degree in Construction Engineering; and
WHEREAS, With a long tradition of giving back, Bill Marinello enthusi-
astically supports organizations and events which are close to his heart
through charitable donations, as well as his participation in fundrais-
ing events; and
WHEREAS, Bill Marinello has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Bill Marinello has been integrally
involved with organizing food drives for the Valatie Food Pantry, volun-
teering at the Ronald McDonald House's Dinner Program, and providing
supplies as well as participating in the Team Billy Ride for Research in
Saratoga, Capital Region Special Surgery Race for Hope, Hudson Mohawk
Road Runners Marathon and Our Towne Turkey Trot; and
WHEREAS, Bill Marinello has been actively involved with the Bethlehem
YMCA since 2008; he is a member of the Wellness Committee, Program
Committee, Advisory Committee, Board Development Committee, and is the
Annual Campaign Chairperson; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he has been active in the coordination of Heal-
thy Kids Day, and was instrumental in establishing the first annual
Delmar Du-athon fundraising event for the YMCA Scholarship Program; in
2013, he proudly led a team of volunteers to win the annual Reach Out
for Youth Campaign for the Bethlehem YMCA; and
WHEREAS, William Marinello has received numerous awards and accolades
some of which include, the 2013 Capital District YMCA Branch Champions
Reach Out for Youth, 2010 Store Manager of the Year, 2009 Wellness
Engagement Award, and 2008 Outstanding Sales Growth Award; he was also
the recipient of the Community Involvement Award for five consecutive
years; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Bill Marinello has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, and two children, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Bill Marinello has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor William Marinello upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Capital District YMCA President's Award on April 22,
2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to William Marinello.
