LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jason E. Lane upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Stakeholders Founders Award to be cele-
brated at the Stakeholders' 2014 GOBY Awards Ceremony on April 23, 2014
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jason E. Lane
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Stakeholders
Founders Award to be celebrated at the Stakeholders' 2014 GOBY Awards
Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the GE Theatre at Proctors,
Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, This illustrious award is bestowed upon board members and
staff of Stakeholders, Inc. who had an early and influential impact on
the formation and success of Stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, Jason E. Lane is the Associate Vice Chancellor and Associate
Provost for Academic Programs and Planning at the State University of
New York (SUNY), as well as Deputy Director for research at the Nelson
A. Rockefeller Institute of Government; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he is an associate professor of educational
policy, senior researcher at the Institute for Global Education Policy
Studies, and co-director of the Cross-Border Education Research Team at
the University at Albany; and
WHEREAS, In addition to overseeing all academic program development
across the system's 64 campuses, Jason E. Lane is responsible for the
graduate education, research, and economic development portfolios on
behalf of the SUNY Provost's Office; and
WHEREAS, Jason E. Lane's research focuses on the organization and
leadership of higher education institutions and their relationship to
governments; he has written numerous articles, book chapters, and policy
reports and authored or edited seven books; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Jason E. Lane has served on the
boards of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES),
Council for International Higher Education (CIHE), the Gulf Comparative
Education Society (GCES), and SUNY Korea; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jason E. Lane has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jason E. Lane upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Stakeholders Founders Award at the Stakeholders' 2014 GOBY Awards
Ceremony on April 23, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jason E. Lane.
