LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Megan M. Mydosh upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Robert LaValle Leadership Award by the
State University of New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplish-
ments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Megan M. Mydosh upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Robert LaValle Leadership Award by the State University of New York
(SUNY); and
WHEREAS, The Robert LaValle Leadership Award is awarded to one student
athlete from the entire SUNY system who demonstrates outstanding
achievement in sports, scholastics, and community service; and
WHEREAS, Megan M. Mydosh, a junior at SUNY Canton, is the first woman
to win the Robert LaValle Leadership Award, standing out in a compet-
itive field of thousands of student-athletes for her numerous accom-
plishments, and for being an outstanding ambassador for SUNY schools;
and
WHEREAS, Megan M. Mydosh's athletic achievements in the sport of cross
country running include being a captain of her team, winning first-place
at a race held at Southern Vermont College, and numerous top-10 and
top-20 finishes in national competition for three consecutive years;
furthermore, she was the first runner in SUNY Canton Athletics history
to earn the Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Week
honors; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has succeeded academically, maintaining
a 3.96 GPA and being named to the President's List each semester of her
college career; she has also received SUNY Canton's, Outstanding Associ-
ate Graduate Award, when she received a degree in business adminis-
tration; she will be eligible for early graduation in December of 2014
with a bachelor's degree in management; and
WHEREAS, Megan M. Mydosh has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed student-athlete has volunteered in numerous
community events and fundraisers, including the Roos Hop to Help Day,
the Special Olympics, the annual Lake-to-Lake Relay and the annual
Nicole Fleury Run; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her entire collegiate career, a period of
constructive involvement, Megan M. Mydosh has stood constant in dignity,
good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Megan M. Mydosh upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Robert LaValle Leadership Award by the State University of New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Megan M. Mydosh.
