LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Chrissy Mazzola upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Victor V. Allegretti Memorial Woman
of the Year Award by the American Legion Kings County Youth Recreational
Facility, Inc.
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Chrissy Mazzola Cowan has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Chrissy
Mazzola upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Victor
V. Allegretti Memorial Woman of the Year Award by the American Legion
Kings County Youth Recreational Facility, Inc.; she will be celebrated
at the organization's 20th Annual Baseball Fundraiser on Sunday, April
6, 2014, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The American Legion Kings County Youth Recreational Facility,
Inc. provides and maintains baseball fields for use by neighborhood
youth organizations and schools in Brooklyn, New York, allowing thou-
sands of children to play baseball in a clean and safe environment at no
cost to them or their families; and
WHEREAS, Chrissy Mazzola is President/CEO of North American DF, Inc.,
a Staten Island-based printing and promotional company which, for the
last 23 years, has assisted established corporations and new entrepre-
neurs grow and promote their businesses; and
WHEREAS, Chrissy Mazzola has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for women and minorities, Chrissy
Mazzola is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for these often
marginalized populations; working through the Staten Island Economic
Development Corporation (SIEDC), she has spearheaded mentoring programs
for the College of Staten Island, St. John's University and Wagner
College, and serves as an ambassador for the SIEDC Executive Women's
Council; and
WHEREAS, Chrissy Mazzola is a member of the Domestic Violence Task
Force, and serves on the boards of the Joe Mandarino Foundation, the
Have a Heart Foundation, and the Seaman's Foundation; in addition, this
compassionate woman initiated the "Back to Basic Program" for Hurricane
Sandy Relief, and is currently helping high school students involved in
the Young Entrepreneur's Academy; and
WHEREAS, Chrissy Mazzola's dedication to improving the lot of others
has been recognized by others; she is the recipient of the 2013 Have a
Heart Award, the 2013 SIEDC Women of Influence Award, the 2012 SIEDC
Leadership Award, and the 2012 Italian Tribune Woman of the Year Award;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Chrissy Mazzola has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Philip, and their
children, Joseph and Danielle, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Chrissy Mazzola has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chrissy Mazzola upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Victor V. Allegretti Memorial Woman of the Year Award; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chrissy Mazzola.
