LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donald Bainbridge upon the occasion of
his induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by
the Warwick Valley Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Donald Bainbridge upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley Central School
District; the Warwick Valley High School Boys Basketball Program held
their 5th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, January 17,
2014; and
WHEREAS, Donald Bainbridge is a member of the Warwick Valley Boys
Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2014; this outstanding athlete's
efforts, commitment, and past accomplishments on the hardwood, have
helped shape the history of the Wildcats, Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Team; and
WHEREAS, A 1959 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Warwick, New
York, Donald Bainbridge was a three-year starter on the varsity Basket-
ball Team, playing under Hall of Fame Coach Vito Magdelinskas; and
WHEREAS, Donald Bainbridge helped lead his team to the 1957-58 Orange
County League Championship, and the 1958-59 Orange County League and
Section IX Championships; during 1958-59, his team set the school record
for the most wins in a season with 19; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious High School basketball career, Donald
Bainbridge was selected to the Orange County League and Section IX All-
Star team, received the auspicious honor of the Orange County League
Section A Player of the Year, and was chosen as a member of the Section
IX All-Tourney Team; and
WHEREAS, An all-around exceptional athlete at Warwick Valley High
School, Donald Bainbridge lettered in four sports: football, basketball,
baseball, and track; in addition, he helped lead both the 1958-59 foot-
ball and baseball teams to league championships; and
WHEREAS, His most well-known basketball moments were beating Port
Jervis in the 1958-59 Section IX championship game, and falling to Pine
Bush in five overtimes in the 1957-58 championship game played at the
West Point Field house; and
WHEREAS, Today, Donald Bainbridge is a retired teacher, coach, and
athletic director; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like Donald Bainbridge provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Donald Bainbridge has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donald Bainbridge upon the occasion of his induction into the
Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donald Bainbridge.
