LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Peter Casey upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the
Warwick Valley Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Peter Casey upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick Valley
Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley Central School
District; the Warwick Valley High School Boys Basketball Program held
their 5th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, January 17,
2014; and
WHEREAS, Peter Casey is a member of the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Hall of Fame Class of 2014; this outstanding athlete's efforts, commit-
ment, and past accomplishments on the hardwood have helped shape the
history of the Wildcats, Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Team; and
WHEREAS, A 1999 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Peter Casey
was a three-year varsity basketball starter from 1996 to 1999; he was
the starting point guard under head coach Gary Vyskocil; and
WHEREAS, Peter Casey helped lead the 1997-98 and 1998-99 teams to
Section IX play-off appearances, and 2nd place finishes in division
play; he also led the Wildcats all three years in assists, steals and
minutes played; and
WHEREAS, During the first year of his illustrious high school basket-
ball career, Peter Casey was selected as the team's most improved play-
er; he went on to receive the auspicious honor of Most Valuable Player
in his second season; and during his last season, he was not only
elected captain, but also won both Most Valuable Player and Mr. Basket-
ball awards; and
WHEREAS, Known for his outstanding ball handling and passing ability,
Peter Casey was one of the top point guards in Section IX during his
career; and
WHEREAS, His most well-known basketball moment was scoring a victory
against Middletown High School on his home floor as a senior, avenging
his Section IX play-off loss as a junior; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like Peter Casey provide a tremendous service to the
future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of student-ath-
letes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Peter Casey has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth
of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the commu-
nity-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his
impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Peter Casey upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley Central School
District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Peter Casey.
