LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Elwood
Public Library, East Northport, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 10th Anniversary of the Elwood Public Library, East Northport,
New York; this auspicious occasion will be marked with a 10th Anniver-
sary Open House on Saturday, April 26, 2014, featuring performances,
demonstrations, and activities for the community; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Elwood Public Library is to provide the
community with a center for information, education, culture, recreation,
and social interaction, actively representing the collective values of a
unique and diverse community in a setting that is inviting and accessi-
ble to every resident; and
WHEREAS, For the past decade, the Elwood Public Library has truly
lived up to its noble purpose, responding to the ever-changing needs of
its patrons, and keeping abreast of the rapidly evolving developments in
the field of information science; and
WHEREAS, The Elwood Public Library offers its users an array of
computer and technology services, diverse programming for community
residents of all ages, special services including hospital visits and
homebound delivery, and access to a wide range of materials from public
libraries throughout Suffolk County; and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Elwood Public Library is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its superbly-skilled staff, whose involve-
ment is and has always been characterized by an impressive commitment,
an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all of their efforts on behalf of the library and the population it
serves; and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the Elwood
Public Library may take just pride in its purposeful growth as it looks
forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and intellectu-
al needs of the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Elwood Public Library; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Elwood Public Library.
