LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION paying tribute to the Townwide Fund of Hunting-
ton, Inc. on its 2014 Annual Golf Outing, and commending this year's
honorees Michael Bohlsen and Kurt Bohlsen for special recognition

WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations which serve the economic well-be-
ing and interests of the people of this great Empire State merit the
commendation of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business
organizations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to pay trib-
ute to the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. on its 2014 Annual Golf
Outing, and commend this year's honorees Michael Bohlsen and Kurt Bohl-
sen for special recognition, to be celebrated Thursday, May 15, 2014, at
the Huntington Crescent Club in Huntington, New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael Bohlsen and Kurt Bohlsen are the co-owners of Bohlsen
Restaurant Group, the third generation of the Bohlsen family to carry on
a tradition of fostering a creative, high-performing, and world-class
atmosphere for their guests, employees, and the communities in which
they live and work; and
WHEREAS, Born into this sterling business, when they were little, the
brothers had their weekly weight progress checked on the kitchen meat
scales, and took naps on top of the cash safe; when they were tall
enough, they helped fill ketchup bottles, restocked sugar and salt pack-
ets, and tattled on the old folks who stuffed their pockets-with those
very packages; and
WHEREAS, Michael and Kurt Bohlsen moved quickly on to bussing tables,
bartending, cooking, and acquiring the skills necessary to eventually
take over the family enterprise; and
WHEREAS, In 2006, Michael and Kurt Bohlsen opened Huntington Harbor's
Prime, and four years later, came the chic and casual VERACE in Islip,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Newly acclaimed as the No. 1 restaurant on Long Island in
2012, the Bohlsen brothers opened their four-star Asian establishment,
Monsoon, in Babylon, New York; and
WHEREAS, They went on to launch the Harbor Club at Prime in 2013,
their first dedicated celebration venue, and second on the waterfront,
next to Prime; and
WHEREAS, The family's other long-standing establishments on Long
Island's dining scene are Tellers in Islip, Beachtree in East Islip, and
H2O in Smithtown; and
WHEREAS, The Bohlsen family's strong belief in giving back to their
patrons, and their selfless humanitarian spirit has benefited the Long
Island community in many ways, such as hosting fundraising events for
Babylon Village victims of Super Storm Sandy, North Shore Animal League,
Long Island Cares, local breast cancer coalitions, and local medical
centers; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and business organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments
are brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citi-
zens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. on its 2014 Annual Golf

Outing, and commend this year's honorees Michael Bohlsen and Kurt Bohl-
sen for special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Bohlsen and Kurt Bohlsen, Owners, Bohlsen Restaurant
Group.
