LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Terry Saturno upon the occasion of her
retirement after 43 years of distinguished service to Orange County
Trust
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Terry Saturno
upon the occasion of her retirement after 43 years of distinguished
service to Orange County Trust on Wednesday, April 30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, A Middletown, New York native, Terry Saturno is a graduate of
the Stonier Graduate School of Retail Banking and Orange County Communi-
ty College (SUNY Orange); and
WHEREAS, For the past 43 years, Terry Saturno rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Orange County Trust, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Terry Saturno began working for Orange County Trust more than
four decades ago when she joined the North Street branch as a Teller;
shortly after, she became Head Teller and throughout her illustrious
career, she was continuously promoted throughout the company; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Terry Saturno became Orange County Trust's first
Chief Operating Officer, during which time she was deeply involved with
every aspect of the bank; and
WHEREAS, Terry Saturno became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2006
and led Orange County Trust through the Great Recession, a time when the
government bailed out struggling big banks and seized small ones that
had collapsed; and
WHEREAS, One of the first female bank CEO's in the Region, Terry
Saturno has served in this esteemed position for eight years, during
which time she has doubled the bank's assets and opened four new branch-
es; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as CEO, Terry Saturno served with loyalty,
honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty and
always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her official acts; and
WHEREAS, Active within her community, Terry Saturno is a member of the
Orange Regional Medical Center Foundation Board, as well as the Founda-
tion's Investment and Finance Committee which oversees financial
matters; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she is past President of the Kiwanis Club of
Middletown, serves on the Middletown Salvation Army Advisory Board, and
is a member of both the New York State Bankers Association Education
Committee and the SUNY Orange Educational Foundation Board; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Terry Saturno over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Terry Saturno upon the occasion of her retirement after 43 years
of distinguished service to Orange County Trust; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Terry Saturno.
