LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mimi Pierre Johnson upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Ambassador for Christ
International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center, on Sunday,
May 4, 2014
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons who
provide exemplary service, whether through participation in voluntary
programs, through unique personal achievement in their profession or
other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mimi Pierre
Johnson upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Ambassador for Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway
Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of Distinction
Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral Terrace,
Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Mimi Pierre Johnson is being recognized for her exemplary
work and commitment to her community, which serves to empower others;
and
WHEREAS, In her multiple roles as a businesswoman, public servant,
community leader, advocate, and church leader, Mimi Pierre Johnson has
demonstrated a profound dedication to making the world a better place
for all; currently a partner at J. Young Consulting where she focuses on
coalition building, social issues, and public policy, this energetic
woman has also worked as community organizer, run a successful family
childcare business, founded and managed a profitable home remodeling and
construction company, and operated as an effective independent real
estate agent; and
WHEREAS, Mimi Pierre Johnson was born in Haiti, and migrated to the
United States in 1970; a woman of deep faith, she is a member of Church
of the Harvest in Elmont, New York, where she is the Director of Chil-
dren Ministry, and, out of which, she ministers to people from all walks
of life, visiting correctional institutions to inspire and support
inmates and prison guards, and also taking her message of hope and
redemption to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and families; and
WHEREAS, Mimi Pierre Johnson, a devoted wife and mother of two chil-
dren, also lends her considerable talents to several volunteer and civic
endeavors; she is Vice President of the Haitian Political Action Commit-
tee of New York, and served as President of the Argo Civic Association
for seven years; she also served as Vice President of the Elmont Commu-
nity Coalition Council; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mimi Pierre Johnson upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Ambassador for Christ International Outreach
Ministry and Gateway Christian Center, on Sunday, May 4, 2014, noting
her unremitting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service to
God, humanity, and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mimi Pierre Johnson.
