LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Our Lady of
Grace Widowed Support Group to be celebrated May 1, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the efforts of citizens of the State of New York who organize
themselves for the purpose of improving and enhancing the quality of
life in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 30th Anniversary of Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support Group to
be celebrated May 1, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support Group consists of 100
members of various ages; the goal of this vital organization is to help
members who are overwhelmed with loss, confusion, anger and desperation;
and
WHEREAS, Life style changes drastically with the death of a spouse;
with faith, positive spirit and peace, not all at once, but day by day
in small steps, individuals can learn to walk again; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support Group is a family of
friends; contributing as a group in a unique way, the members reach out
to each other and to the parish, the community, the poor and also
prepare home cooked meals and distribute to the homeless; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the members participate and work at parish
events such as Bake Sales, Anointing Mass, the Easter Fair and the
Christmas Fair, as well as many others; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support Group is under the able
leadership of Esther Soscia, Rose Lovetere, Elenore Molinari, Sue Fortu-
nato, Terry Koestring, and Betty Pellicano who sacrifice their time and
work for others, and its captains, all of whom help hold the group
together in so many ways; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body recog-
nizes the many contributions of Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support Group,
and wishes this worthy organization continued success in its proactive
mission to benefit the communities it represents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support
Group to be celebrated May 1, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Our Lady of Grace Widowed Support Group.
