LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Thomas S. Pianella upon the occasion
of his retirement after 58 years of distinguished service to the Holland
Patent Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Thomas S. Pianella upon the occasion of his retirement after 58 years of
distinguished service to the Holland Patent Central School District; he
was honored at a ceremony on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at The Savoy
Restaurant in Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, For the past 58 years, Thomas S. Pianella rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Holland Patent Central School
District, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as a school bus driver, Thomas S. Pianella
provided safe and reliable transportation to and from school for gener-
ations of children in Holland Patent; he was governed by a keen sense of
duty and always showed tremendous professionalism in his long career;
and
WHEREAS, Thomas S. Pianella retired from the Marcy Psychiatric Center
in 1985, and was a loan officer and President at the Marcy Federal Cred-
it Union for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he served for 12 years as a legislator for Onei-
da County and was President of the Marcy Chamber of Commerce; he was
also active in the American Legion, VFW, Utica Maennerchor, and the
Stanwix Veterans and Men's Club; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Cecilia, who feels
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas S. Pianella upon the occasion of his retirement after 58
years of distinguished service to the Holland Patent Central School
District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas S. Pianella.
