LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Bayside Anglers Group Ltd. upon the
occasion of its 20th Annual Bayside Anglers Waterfront Day: Little Neck
Bay Shoreline Clean-Up
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bayside Anglers Group Ltd. upon the occasion of its 20th Annual Bayside
Anglers Waterfront Day: Little Neck Bay Shoreline Clean-Up to be held on
Sunday, May 4, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1994, Bayside Anglers Group Ltd. is a non-profit
organization which seeks to promote safe, effective, and environmentally
sound recreational fishing practices; they are proud to share their
knowledge and expertise at numerous community outreach events year
round, helping children and families become better fishermen; and
WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, this esteemed organization has hosted
its award winning Bayside Anglers Waterfront Day to beautify and improve
a nearly three mile stretch of public shoreline on Little Neck Bay and
also Little Bay Park in Queens, New York; and
WHEREAS, This event brings together local residents, businesses,
schools, various community groups and friends of the environment from
all over the tri-state area; volunteers spend the day clearing the area
of debris in an atmosphere of fun and goodwill; furthermore, local and
national businesses supply prizes for a raffle held for event helpers;
and
WHEREAS, In 1996, the Bayside Anglers Waterfront Day was awarded first
prize in a national waterfront cleanup contest sponsored by a popular
tackle manufacturer; and
WHEREAS, Bayside Anglers Group Ltd. sponsors myriad other community
functions including an Annual Family Fishing Festival, Snapper Derby,
DEC Children's Fishing Clinics, and the National Estuaries Day festiv-
ities at Alley Pond Environmental Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bayside Anglers Group Ltd. upon the occasion of its 20th Annual
Bayside Anglers Waterfront Day: Little Neck Bay Shoreline Clean-Up; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bayside Anglers Group Ltd.
