LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Holland Patent High School
student-athlete Alex Herringshaw upon the occasion of capturing the 2014
New York State wrestling title

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Holland Patent High School student-athlete Alex Herringshaw upon
the occasion of capturing the 2014 New York State wrestling title on
Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York;
and
WHEREAS, A sophomore at Holland Patent High School, Alex Herringshaw
won the New York Public High School Athletic Association Division II
145-pound wrestling championship with a third-period pin of his Lewi-
ston-Porter opponent; and
WHEREAS, Alex Herringshaw began wrestling as a kindergartener; his
exceptional 50-2 2013-2014 season truly demonstrates that this talented
athlete is second-to-none; and
WHEREAS, Alex Herringshaw's overall record is outstanding; he was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Alex Herringshaw has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate student-athlete Alex Herringshaw upon the occasion of
capturing the 2014 New York State wrestling title; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alex Herringshaw.
