LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by the Ambassador
for Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center
on Sunday, May 4, 2014
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Reverend
Theresa Ora Wyatt upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Ambassador For Christ International Outreach Ministry
and Gateway Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of
Distinction Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral
Terrace, Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt is being recognized for her exem-
plary work and commitment to her community, which serves to empower
others; and
WHEREAS, Born to Anna Nell Wyatt and the late John Willie Wyatt on
August 8, 1959, Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt entered the prestigious Bronx
High School of Science at just 14 years old; and
WHEREAS, With a true passion for learning, Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt
went to Vassar College, graduated from Sarah Lawrence College's Premed-
ical Studies Program, attended Columbia University's Post Graduate
Program, and graduated from Adelphi University's Lawyer's Assistants
Program; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she earned a Real Estate Salesperson's Certif-
icate from New York University Real Estate Institute, and concomitantly
attended Fordham Graduate School at Lincoln Center's Master of Business
Administration Program with a concentration in marketing, while earning
a Juris Doctor from City University of New York Law School; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her many years of academia as a scholar,
Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt worked as a National Science Foundation
Fellow in Biochemistry and Nutritional Science, Building Office Secre-
tary for Webb & Brooker Real Estate, Inc., Law Intern with New York City
Law Department, Law Intern at The Center for Law and Social Justice at
Medgar Evers College, as well as teacher of Street Law at the Ridge-
wood-Seneca Senior Center and the Corona Golden Age Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, Upon her call to the ministry, Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt
preached for more than eight years under an Evangelism License from
Christian Universal Temple Baptist Church in Corona, New York; she was
then ordained in the Gospel Ministry which she has since served for more
than 20 years, and is the Founding Pastor of Churchill Baptist Church of
Christ, Inc. of Harlem, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by the Ambassador For Christ International
Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May 4, 2014,
noting her unremitting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service
to God, man, and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Theresa Ora Wyatt.
