LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the Extra Mile Award by To
Life! on May 6, 2014

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
and pay tribute to those individuals within the medical field who
distinguish themselves through professional excellence and who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life of citizens in the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Extra Mile Award by To Life!, to be celebrated at its Annual
Gala on Tuesday, May 6, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Since 1998, To Life! has served thousands of women and their
families throughout the 10 county Capital Region providing unparalleled
education, information and support regarding breast cancer; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus earned her medical degree at the
University of the Philippines College of Medicine in April of 1997 and
currently serves as a Physician Shareholder and Radiation Oncologist at
New York Oncology Hematology, PC; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus is affiliated with
Albany Medical Center, Nathan Littauer Hospital, and St. Mary's Hospi-
tal; she is certified/licensed by the American Board of Radiology, New
York State Education Department, Medical Board of California, District
of Columbia Board of Medicine, United States Medical Licensure Examina-
tion and Philippine Physician Licensure Examination; and
WHEREAS, With an untiring dedication to healing and improving the
patient experience, Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus serves as Chair of the
Radiation Oncology Quality Assurance Committee, US Oncology Network;
Chair of the Compliance Committee, New York Oncology Hematology, PC;
Member of both the CME/MOC Committee and Communications Committee, Amer-
ican Society for Radiation Oncology; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus is a Member of the
Heart, Lung, Cancer Committee for the Medical Society of the State of
New York and has served on the Board of Directors of Susan G. Komen for
the Cure since 2011; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus has published numerous works, her
most recent, "Breast Cancer among Young African American Females",
BREAST CANCER RESEARCH AND TREATMENT, in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, As a leader in her profession, Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus
has proven herself to be a great asset to medicine and to the health and
welfare of the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus upon the occasion of her designation
as recipient of the Extra Mile Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Maria Arsyl D. De Jesus.
