LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stephanie Blythe upon the occasion of
her induction into the Monticello Central School District's inaugural
Hall of Distinction on November 3, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stephanie Blythe upon the occasion of her induction into the Monticello
Central School District's inaugural Hall of Distinction celebrated at a
ceremony held in the school's Arnold Packer Hughes Auditorium on Sunday,
November 3, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Hall of Distinction was established in 2012 by the Board
of Education to honor graduates or attendees, or former teachers or
staff members who have made a lasting and outstanding contribution to
society upon graduating or leaving the Monticello Central School
District; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Blythe is a graduate of Monticello Central School,
Class of 1987; and
WHEREAS, Described as a singer of extraordinary versatility, Mezzo
Soprano Stephanie Blythe began her professional singing career with the
Metropolitan Opera in 1994; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Blythe has toured internationally with the Metro-
politan Opera Company and made her Lincoln Center debut in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Signed to the Virgin Classics record label, Stephanie Blythe
has performed with renowned opera companies throughout the world and
most recently made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall in March of 2013,
where she performed the works of Samuel Barber and James Legg, Cole
Porter, Irving Berlin and Ray Henderson; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stephanie Blythe has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stephanie Blythe upon the occasion of her induction into the
Monticello Central School District's inaugural Hall of Distinction; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephanie Blythe.
